Augmented reality advertising

Augmented reality advertising is the latest trend to have emerged in advertising campaigns. Advances in technology are changing the way the audience reacts to advertising as a whole. Advertising is a vital means of communication which helps in the sale of products to the consumers, and augmented reality advertising, which incorporates a combination of reality and data generated by computers, takes persuasion to a whole new level.

Augmented reality advertising uses a different kind of a technology altogether and most of the ads created today are very exciting indeed. They keep the audience glued as augmented reality advertising gives them a taste of the future. There are many companies which use augmented reality advertising and the themes vary depending upon the product or service or entertainment experience they want to promote. Night At the Museum is a good example of augmented reality advertising. All the characters of the movie are brought to life virtually and the audience can feel the magic of the movie and be mesmerized by simply watching the AR advertisement.

Augmented reality advertising also brings home the fact that being interactive is one of the vital features which makes it so successful. A classic example is the augmented reality interactive ad for Doritos Sweet Chili.  The advertisement has a very unique appeal because of the attract packaging of the product and the massive 3D scale on which the ad has been done; its interactive aspect takes you straight to a website where you are encouraged to release lovers. The gigantic AR ad has been created by a Brazilian interactive ad agency which is positioned on a building roof top.

Another interesting augmented reality application has been used by Lego in a test drive last year to facilitate sale of their latest products. At the point of sale Lego put up special kiosks that could read the AR code embedded in the latest Lego products in the form of a magic color symbol on the top of every Lego box. When buyers took the box and held it flat at the kiosk a 3D model of the finished product, whether an aircraft, or police station, could be seen in motion picture effect hovering atop the Lego box!

The Nissan Cube is another example of augmented reality advertising. Through this particular advertisement the consumers can relate to the product quite well. Updated technological tools have been shown to exhibit the inside and outside of the car. The interactive brochure also plays a pertinent role in allowing the customers to select the colors and see the 3 D model of the car and its interiors from various angles, imposed upon the pages of the brochure.
